Inspirational Lola donates her hair and raises more than £4,000
A brilliant and inspiring 11-year-old has stunned us all with her bravery and desire to help others.
Lola Gough-Hacking had just started secondary school when she was given the devastating news that she had a rare form of blood cancer.
She began treatment a few weeks later at Alder Hay Hospital in Liverpool and her long, beautiful hair began to fall out.
Even though she was facing weeks of aggressive chemotherapy, Lola’s first thought was to help others.

Lola told her mum that “if I can’t have my hair, someone else can” – and the decision was made to cut her long locks.
As well as donating 15 inches of her hair, Lola also set up a JustGiving page to raise as much money as she could for LPT. The page has now raised more than £4,300!

Elaine Hacking, Lola’s mother, said the support Lola has received for her fundraising has given her a real boost after some very difficult days.
She added: “On October 27 our world was shattered into a million pieces when our beautiful lovely little Lola was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.

“We spent what felt like a lifetime crying in fear of this terrible disease and what the future would hold for our beautiful girl.
“In true Lola form she has smashed her way through the start of intensive chemotherapy, and she is getting stronger each day.”
Lola, who recently received her own wig from The Little Princess Trust, originally set out to raise £1,000 and has been delighted to see how many people have backed her appeal.
“All she keeps saying, every time she reaches another multiple of £700, is ‘mum, it’s another wig,” said Elaine.

“She is doing so well, and we are incredibly proud of her."
Lola, who said she loves wearing her wig as it is so much like her own hair, has kept her fundraising page open. Click here to visit her JustGiving page and donate to her appeal.
