New partnership supports our wig service in Portugal

Jean Louis David salons give their backing

A new partnership has been made to help support our free wig service in Portugal.

The link has seen Jean Louis David salons pledge to raise vital funds for The Little Princess Trust through its 'Hair Fashion Weeks' campaign.

As well as raising money to help us provide real hair wigs to children, the 31 Jean Louis David salons across the Iberian nation will also be collecting hair donations and letting more young people know that our wigs are available, free of charge, for children in Portugal.

We first started working with wig fitters in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon in 2019 and our wigs can also now be fitted and styled at specialist salons in Porto and Coimbra.

LPT Chief Executive Phil Brace attended the launch of the Hair Fashion Weeks campaign with our co-founder Wendy Tarplee-Morris in Lisbon when he presented to the JLD salon managers.

He said: “This exciting new partnership with Jean Louis David builds on the fantastic links already established in Portugal with our wig fitters at HairPlus and with our friends at the children’s cancer charity, Acreditar.

The Jean Louis David salons are also promoting The Little Princess Trust's free wig service in Portugal.

“As well as raising valuable funds to help our work, the support from the 31 salons means more children will hear about our wigs and we will help more young people in a country that has done – and is doing – so much for LPT.

“Our work in Portugal is a great example of just what can be done when people come together to help children and young people. Obrigado!”

Vasco Malveiro, CEO of Jean Louis David Portugal, said: “We believe that beauty can and should have a purpose.

"With the return of Hair Fashion Weeks, we reaffirm our commitment to causes that truly matter.

"This partnership with The Little Princess Trust allows us not only to help those most in need, but also to involve our customers and teams in a gesture of solidarity with real impact.”

Liliana Espírito Santo, Executive Co-ordinator at HairPlus, is helping us with our free wig provision service in Portugal.

The partnership between LPT and Jean Louis David came about following an introduction made by Arminda Vaz.

Arminda and her husband Jose have played an integral part in helping us to start our free wig service in Portugal.

They own the HairPlus salons where children and young people can attend to have their wig fitted and styled.

In recognition of all that they have done, Phil Brace invited Arminda and José to become ambassadors of The Little Princess Trust - an offer they happily accepted.

Arminda Vaz has been made an ambassador of The Little Princess Trust.

"Children in Portugal have received great kindness when receiving their LPT wigs in Portugal," added Mr Brace.

"That kindness and generosity has been extended to both Wendy and I whenever we have met José and Arminda and everyone else at HairPlus."
