LPT ready to accept hair donations once more

Call goes out to supporters to donate hair - and fundraise

The Little Princess Trust is once again calling on its amazing supporters to send in their lengthy long locks of hair.

And, during these unprecedented times, we are making a special plea to the wonderful LPT family to accompany any donations of hair with fundraising.

It costs £550 to provide a young person with a real hair wig and, as we are also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK, we need your support more than ever.

Financial contributions to our charity have dropped 75% through April and as a charity that does not employ any paid fundraisers, we rely on the public’s amazing support to continue giving Hair and Hope to thousands of children with cancer.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic we had to temporarily stop accepting hair donations but we have now introduced many new measures to ensure our team can sort hair in a safe and secure environment.

Staff will wear personal protective equipment while keeping a safe distance from colleagues and we will be placing incoming hair in quarantine for a short period of time.

We have been so grateful to our brilliant supporters who have joined our ‘Let it Grow’ campaign over the past two months and we hope their hair will now be long enough to help us meet demand for our most popular long wigs.

Despite many challenges arising over the past few months, we have continued to give our wigs, free of charge, to young people who have lost their own hair due to cancer treatment and other conditions.

Many of the young wig recipients have written to us to express their gratitude to everyone who has made this possible and helped restore their confidence and identity at such a tough time in their young lives.

We know the past few months have been challenging for everyone but the words of thanks from these young people really do inspire us all and we promise that we will be there for every child that needs a wig.

So a huge thanks goes out to everyone who has supported us – and to all of those planning on doing so in the future.

Please do take great care when cutting your long locks for The Little Princess Trust. There is more information on our website including a video with celebrity hairdresser Andrew Barton who has some great advice on the best way to cut your hair for LPT.
