Alistair McGowan lends his support to our Hair and Hope mission

Comedian performed poetry and impressions at Castle House
Alistair McGowan, the brilliant comedian, poet and pianist, has become the latest person to support LPT in our 20th year.
The Castle House hotel in Hereford was the venue for a fantastic afternoon of poetry, observations and, of course, impressions.
Proceeds from the event will go to support our free wig provision service and our funding of childhood cancer research.
Mr McGowan performed many of the poems from his book, Not What We Were Expecting, while also telling the audience of how he made his way from school to the stage and on to TV screens.
Now living a 20-minute train ride from our Hereford headquarters, he also told the audience how he sought advice from Jo Brand before moving to Ludlow and how he enjoys rural life in south Shropshire.
Mr McGowan gave an interview to BBC Hereford and Worcester shortly before the event and said he could understand how awful hair loss could be.
“I've been lucky – I've never had cancer in my family, but I know about hair loss, and I can understand that wearing a wig, which looks like a wig, is the last thing especially small children want to do,” he said.
“So, I think what the charity has done and continues to do is extraordinary. I'm very pleased to be involved, even just for a small part today."
Tim Lowe, one of our Trustees, and Phil Brace, our Chief Executive, both thanked Mr McGowan for giving up his time to help our cause.
Mr Brace also expressed his thanks to the staff at the Castle House for hosting their second event of the year to help LPT after Sir Geoffrey Boycott spoke at the hotel earlier in the year.
