Isobel’s wig has helped restore her confidence

Isobel’s wig has helped restore her confidence

Meet Isobel, one of our recent wig recipients!

14 year old Isobel is undergoing treatment for ovarian cancer and has experienced hair loss as a side effect of her chemotherapy.

As is the case for many children and young people undergoing cancer treatment, finding out she was going to lose her hair was tough for Isobel. Her mum, Lisa, told us: “Izzy didn’t cry when they told her she had cancer, but when they said she was going to lose her hair, she was heartbroken.”

Due to the intensity of her treatment, Isobel’s hair began to fall out very quickly, and she decided to shave off her hair to help with the transition.

Izzy didn’t cry when they told her she had cancer, but when they said she was going to lose her hair, she was heartbroken.

Since then, LPT have sent over her very own real hair wig and it has played a big part in restoring her confidence.

“Izzy absolutely loves her wig,” Lisa told us, “it’s so beautiful and has made her feel a little more normal and given her the confidence to go out more”.

Having shared her photos on social media, Lisa was more than happy for us to tell Isobel’s story to show our SuperHairoes the difference their help makes to the children and young people we support.

“You see so many amazing people donating hair, so it’s nice to see where it goes and what joy this brings to them. I can’t thank everyone enough for donating their hair and putting a smile back on Izzy’s face.”

Without the support of our hair donors, fundraisers, and supporters, we would not be able to provide our real hair wigs, free of charge to the children and young people we support, just like Isobel - and we are so incredibly grateful to everyone who gets involved.

Everyone at LPT is sending Isobel so much love and our best wishes for her treatment and recovery, and we are so pleased to hear that her wig has had such a positive impact.
