Five medical students go above and beyond to support our wig provision service

We recently welcomed five supporters from Bergen, Norway, to the LPT HQ!

“We were all so touched by your charity, all the work you do, and by how many truly good people work at The Little Princess Trust, especially in these times.”

We recently welcomed five fantastic supporters who made the trip from Bergen, Norway, to our HQ here in Hereford. Silje, Pauline, Oline, Sunniva, and Mina are all third-year medical students and, as part of their student union, work first hand to reintegrate patients back into school, work, and social life.

“A huge part of dealing with a serious illness may be to feel the loss of one’s identity, which could lead to social isolation, and that’s when wigs play a role in feeling more like yourself again and boosting confidence.”

Having previously donated their hair to us in the past, this team of SuperHairoes knew that after letting their locks grow for a few more years, it was time to do so again! This time, however, the idea to get others involved in their act of support came about and. thanks to the hairdressers at Adam og Eva, they were able to start a hair donation campaign across Bergen!

A huge part of dealing with a serious illness may be to feel the loss of one’s identity, which could lead to social isolation, and that’s when wigs play a role in feeling more like yourself again and boosting confidence.

Encouraging hairdressers to offer free haircuts to those donating their locks, this fantastic five also managed to persuade many others ready to embrace a new look to donate their hair to us here at LPT - a simple decision that will have helped to make a massive difference to our wig provision service.

Having gone above and beyond with their support for our Hair and Hope mission, we were thrilled to be able to thank them in person and demonstrate the journey that their own hair donations, as well as those accumulated from their hair donation campaign, will take to becoming real hair wigs.

“We wanted the hair to go to a charity where wigs are given to the recipients free of charge.

“We were so happy to meet you and to be able to see how the hair donations are used. The Little Princess Trust exceeded all our expectations, and we could tell the entire charity was organized in a way which ensures that help is given to as many people as possible, both in terms of wigs and research into childhood cancer treatment.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to come visit you and we look forward to continuing to support you through future hair donations. It is a privilege to be able to support The Little Princess Trust.”

Phil, CEO of The Little Princess Trust has said, "It was an absolute delight to welcome our guests who’d travelled all the way from Norway to be with us.

“We are always in awe of our amazing supporters, but it was a very special day to be able to welcome the five very special and kind medical students from Norway.

“It was our pleasure to be able to thank them all individually, and I was further delighted to hear that they plan an even larger event next year in support of The Little Princess Trust".
