Christmas message from Phil

Wishing all Christmas wishes and New Year cheer

As 2022 draws to a close and we find ourselves sprinting to the finish line wishing all and sundry Christmas wishes and New Year cheer, it’s a time to just stop for a moment and take a breath.

What a year it has been! When we emerged from the pandemic who’d have known what else lay in store for us. Because as we entered 2022 with memories of the surreal existence we had, we were then hit with new challenges.

I must remind myself that it shouldn’t be like this! Even more so, our children need to know that.

However, the challenges that most of us have faced over the last few years are not comparable to a child being told they have cancer. The impact for them and their families is shattering.

The Little Princess Trust will continue to be there for a child or young person who needs our service, and we will work tirelessly with an amazing research community to fund incredible projects that will lead to better outcomes for children and young people with cancer.

There is hardly a day when I’m not reminded of why we are here as our founders Simon and Wendy lost their beautiful daughter Hannah, at just 5 years of age, to childhood cancer. Still today we are driven by our objectives and true to our values and will continue to hope for a day when, as a legacy to her, we are no longer needed.

In a world that seems to be so volatile, you can rely on The Little Princess Trust to do all we can to help, to be trustworthy and ensure that everything we do is in the best interests of the recipients of our services and fundraisers alike.

I’m always lost for words to describe the amazing support we get each year when people are so generous with their hair donations especially when they link it to fundraising. In the summer of 2022, I also have to mention the amazing cyclists who travelled from London to Paris with us in just three days! It was some achievement and we managed to raise nearly £60,000! Thank you!

Our Christmas message is one of gratitude. We somehow feel blessed that we can help, we feel so humbled and appreciative to all the amazing people who donate their hair and fundraise for us.

We feel privileged to have such wonderful support from many businesses who have chosen to support our work. We are astonished by the professionalism of the research community as they apply such intellect to improving the science that can lead to kinder and more effective treatments for children and young people with cancer.

I am blessed that the staff at The Little Princess Trust are so passionate about their work. We are equally blessed that we have such generous Trustees, who give their valuable time for free.

As we race to the end of 2022, we will slow down, take a breath, and ensure we listen to understand and not just to respond. We will continue to demonstrate empathy, care and kindness in all that we do.

On behalf of all of us at The Little Princess Trust, we wish you a happy, relaxed and peaceful Christmas and a healthy and joy filled New Year.

 Phil, Chief Executive
