Amazing Amber & her new LPT wig

Amazing Amber & her new LPT wig

This brave 9 year old has not let her cancer diagnosis stop her, and is determined to keep doing all the fun things in life!

When Amber was diagnosed with leukaemia, she was told it was likely she would lose her hair early on.

During the induction phase of her treatment, Amber's mum decided to contact our wig referrals team here at LPT, to arrange a wig fitting before she began losing her hair.

Annie, our wig fitter, was able to style and fit the wig in the comfort of her own home, whilst also providing a range of colours and styles. It was at this time that Amber found out she could donate her long locks to us. This small, selfless act was one that made her smile with joy. She was so pleased to be able to help another child going through treatment.

Amber is now happily wearing her LPT wig. Knowing that she had the wig to wear when she needed it was a real security blanket at a challenging time

Amber's mum Laura told us, "Amber now loves wearing her wig, particularly when she is with people she doesn’t know so well as she feels like she can be her usual chatty self without needing to explain her appearance".

Whilst receiving treatment, Amber is determined to keep doing all the fun things in life (such as bodyboarding in the sea!)

Despite being diagnosed in April, Amber has amazed us all with her determination to keep doing everything she did before.

Seeing the sparkle in her eye when she puts the wig on means the world to us all

Amber is one of our many wig recipients who have benefited from your generous hair donations, which go far in helping to provide #HairAndHope to children and young people facing hair loss.
