Make 2023 the best year yet with ‘New Year, New ‘Do’!

Heard of the New Year resolution where you do nothing at all?

This resolution for 2023 doesn’t involve setting foot in a gym, eating healthier or finally getting around to reading that book that’s been sat on your bedside table all year. It simply involves you, and your hair.

Growing your hair to donate to LPT is one of the best ways you can support us, and it all starts with making that initial decision to let your hair grow. And what’s better, once you’ve let your hair grow, and you’re sat in the salon chair about to brave the chop, you have a fantastic, shorter, stylish new hairdo waiting for you.

Although growing your hair to 12 inches or more does take time and patience, the difference one simple decision makes to the children and young people we support is incredible.

I received a wig after having chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, and it’s the most amazing feeling to look like yourself and have your confidence back.

So, if you’ve made the decision to grow your hair this year, why not check out some top tips to keep your hair healthy and growing?

  • Swap hair elastics to avoid breakages. The less breakage in your hair, the more it will grow!
  • Try and use gentle, microfibre towels after washing your hair.
  • Brush and de-tangle your hair gently to make sure you don’t damage it. Your hair is especially fragile after washing, so make sure to be gentle with it!
  • Cut back on heat tools and chemical treatments to prevent damage. Instead, try letting your hair dry naturally or using hairstyles to style your hair instead.

Let It Grow to 12 inches or more, before getting your new 'do!

So, if you do make the decision to Let It Grow during 2023, be sure to let us know on social media! We love to hear all about your hair growth and donation stories, so tag us, use #LetItGrow and inspire others to get involved in the easiest New Year's resolution ever!

If you've let it grow, and are ready to donate your hair already, head to our Donate Hair page here.
