National recognition for education initiative

Award for our free assembly and lesson packs for primary schools
The Little Princess Trust has been praised by judges for the way it has helped children learn about cancer in a sensitive and empathetic manner.
We teamed up with our friends at 1decision to create the free assembly and lesson packs for primary school pupils.
To date, more than 1,200 schools have accessed the free materials which are designed to reduce anxiety and stigma surrounding the word cancer while promoting empathy, scientific understanding, and positive discussion within school communities.
The packs were finalists in the Free Resource category of the 2025 Teach Primary Awards and were Highly Commended by judges.

Phil Brace, Chief Executive of The Little Princess Trust, said: “It is so pleasing to see this partnership recognised for the way it helps teachers approach the subject of cancer with great sensitivity.
“Knowing that thousands of children have benefited from the materials is incredibly encouraging and this recognition during our 20th anniversary year is a wonderful reminder of the impact that collaboration and kindness can have in supporting young people.”
The Teach Primary Awards honour exceptional educational resources that demonstrate innovation, impact, and classroom value. This Highly Commended recognition reflects the strength and quality of the approach of our free resource.

Hayley Sherwood, Founder of 1decision, said: “This project means so much to us because it supports schools to talk about cancer with compassion, honesty, and hope.
“Our collaboration with The Little Princess Trust, our chosen charity, and the Children and Young People’s Cancer Association reflects our shared commitment to creating innovative educational materials that inspire empathy and understanding.
“We hope this recognition helps to increase the reach of this valuable resource.”
The free assembly and lesson pack is available to all UK primary schools here.
