Research and Grants

In addition to our free wig provision, we fund research into finding better treatments for childhood cancers.

We work in partnership with CCLG (Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group) to fund research into finding better treatments for children's cancers.

In line with our original objectives of providing free real hair wigs to children and young people up to the age of 24 experiencing hair loss as a result of cancer treatment and other conditions, we also - where funds allow - support the development of less aggressive and less toxic cancer treatments. Our hope is that, one day, this research will lead to finding a cure for paediatric cancers.

Since 2016, we have awarded £2,200,000 across 27 projects into many types of cancer, including: neuroblastoma, leukaemia, teenage and young adult brain tumours, Wilms' and rhabdomyosarcoma.

This incredible opportunity has only been made possible as a result of the phenomenal work that our fantastic fundraisers do. We are continually blown away by the staggering sums of money that you raise, as well as the invaluable hair donations that we receive.

Wendy, a trustee and co-founder of the charity, says:

“When we initially started the charity we spoke of how wonderful it would be if one day there wouldn’t be a need for an organisation of this kind. I could never have imagined that 10 years later we would be able to fund research which might help move closer to achieving just that.”

Each research application received via our partners CCLG (Children’s Cancer & Leukaemia Group) is subject to scrutiny and a detailed peer review and is then passed to the Board of Trustees of The Little Princess Trust for further appraisal and final decision.
