We are a children’s cancer charity and our mission is to supply free real hair wigs to children and young people for the duration of their cancer treatment.  However, in addition, we assist children with other conditions which also result in hair loss, the most common being alopecia.  Our commitment to these children is different.  Despite being originally set up to help children with cancer, we are also able to supply children that have a diagnosis other than cancer.  These children are supplied with a single wig.  Whilst we are unable to commit to supplying more than one wig to these young people, we hope that this gesture will help the child and family whilst they decide on their long-term plans for dealing with the condition.  Our policy on supplying free wigs to children with a non-cancer diagnosis can be found here.

Hero by LPT – we are aware that some children may not be comfortable receiving a wig from a charity called Little Princess Trust, whose strong presence is coloured pink and purple.  Therefore, aimed at boys and young men and at any child who would prefer an alternative, we have launched Hero by LPT.  It is part of the Little Princess Trust and offers exactly the same service of free wigs to sick children.

What happens next?

We will make contact with the nominated adult responsible for the child, and we will give details of the appointed salon, which will be as local to the family as possible.   This supplier will supply and fit the real hair wig, free of charge. The parent/guardian will contact the salon to arrange a convenient appointment.  If it is not possible for the child to visit the salon, sometimes ward or home visits can be arranged.

Initial contact with the salon/wig supplier will be made by us so that everyone is expecting a call from the family.  Between the family and the supplier, they will arrange the most suitable appointment time in order to choose the best wig available in terms of size, colour and feel.

A return visit will be arranged to fit and style the wig and instruction will be given at that time on the best way to care for it.  The family will not be required to contribute anything towards the cost of the wig and the fitting/styling.  An invoice will be sent by the supplier directly to the charity for us to settle.

We partner a vast number of independent wig suppliers and salons that are skilled in working in such sensitive situations.

General Information

Information is available in leaflet form at most children’s cancer centres and shared care centres. However, we recognise that not every hospital is aware of the charity and we are therefore actively seeking contacts in all centres throughout the UK and Ireland that provide paediatric cancer care and/or treatment.

If you work in a hospital which treats children with cancer, we would like to provide you with the information you need to inform your patients of the service we offer.  If you would like leaflets and a leaflet holder for your hospital, please either fill in the form below or e-mail  Alternatively contact us using any of the details on our contact page.

However, please do not wait until you have the leaflets before informing your patients.  We will provide real hair, very high quality wigs to your patients at absolutely no cost to them and we are more than happy for you to refer children to us straightaway. You can give our contact details or website address to the family immediately.

If you require further stocks of leaflets or a leaflet holder, please email or use the form below and we will send more to you immediately.
