The Friday Round-Up

The office has been a hive of activity this week, in preparation for tomorrow’s #RealLifeRapunzel final at Shrek’s Adventure! London.

Our five finalists – Susan, Sara, Fern, Joy and Roisin – will start the day with a slap-up breakfast, courtesy of our friends at Starbucks, and a VIP tour of Shrek’s Adventure! It will then be haircut time! Hair donors will have their hair chopped in Shrek’s Throne Room and there will be a chance to meet a host of special guests! The donors will then have their hair styled whilst the judges measure the braids to find out who has given the longest hair donation….how exciting!!

In the afternoon, Shrek’s Adventure! are opening their doors to members of the public who booked a free place at our mass hair donation event! Guests will enjoy a fab, fun-filled afternoon of haircuts, makeovers and activities. Keep an eye on our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts for live updates from the event!

We are also super-excited to see your photos from your #TeaandTiaras tea parties which have been taking place this week with more planned over the weekend and later in the year, too. Don’t forget to tag us in to your photos or use the hashtag #TeaandTiaras.

We were thrilled this week to receive photos of another special event; ten year-old child model Sofia Holmes from Gorseinon, Wales, had her hair cut at the Llanelli Parc Trostre branch of Marks and Spencers, and donated the 18” braid to the Little Princess Trust.

In 2015, Sofia won the Face of the Globe competition – an annual international beauty pageant hosted over one week between the UK and Disneyland Paris.  After winning, Sofia elected the Little Princess Trust to be her charity of choice and she has since been working hard to raise money for the Trust.

One of her many fundraising activities includes frequent stints of bag-packing at the Llanelli Parc Trostre Marks and Spencers store. During this time, she has developed quite a rapport with the local shoppers and staff of M&S. So much so, that Gail Webster, an employee of the Llanelli M&S branch, actually cut Sofia’s hair for her!

Prior to the event, Gail told us ‘I have been cutting Sofia’s hair for a very long time now but she only ever has a trim! It is nearly down to her knees so it’s a huge amount to be donating to the Little Princess Trust!’.

Pradeep Patel, Store Manager at M&S Llanelli Parc Trostre said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be supporting Sofia’s fundraising for the Little Princesses Trust. Helping to transform the lives of children facing hair loss through cancer and other conditions is a cause that matters greatly to myself and my colleagues. Sofia has inspired us all by bravely facing the chop and we’re overwhelmed by the support our customers have offered in helping her to fundraise for such a worthy cause.”

Monica Glass, Charity Manager at the Little Princess Trust said ‘We feel honoured that Sofia has chosen to support the Little Princess Trust since 2015 and on top of all of her other fundraising efforts, we think that her decision to donate her lovely long hair is truly amazing. What an inspiring young girl Sofia is!’.

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our London Marathon runners, Emily, Tony, Kelly (from Wye Valley Runners) and Laura Tootell on their amazing achievement! Anyone fancy taking up the baton next year?

The Little Princess Trust is looking for some local volunteers who are willing to sort human hair from our wonderful hair donations at our Broad St office in Hereford.

We need the plaits sorting by length and colour for a few hours per week.

If anyone is interested please call the office and speak to Emma Rogers or email emma@littleprincesses.org.uk

And for the keen cyclists amongst you – we are thrilled to announce that we have we have 4 spaces available for the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 on Sunday 30th July. To take part, you will need to raise a minimum of £500 which will cover the cost of the race. These tickets usually go like hotcakes so contact info@littleprincesses.org.uk to get your hands on ’em – Good Luck!

Have a great weekend!!
