Dad takes on a marathon as a thank you for LPT wig!
Dad and daughter duo raise more than £4,000 for LPT!
Ciaran's daughter, 9-year-old Emily, had been diagnosed with Alopecia at just 18 months old. However, due to progressing to the senior part of her school in 2020, Emily's family got in touch and requested a wig from LPT.
The wig was delivered in June 2020, after an amazing response and service from The Little Princess Trust.
Appreciative of the support she received from LPT, this amazing 9-year-old recently decided that she wanted to give back.
"I hadn't any plans to run a marathon, having already ran 3, 10 years ago", Ciaran told us.
However, after Emily asked if her dad could take part in the Dublin Marathon to fundraise for LPT, Ciaran was quick to get his running shoes back on.
Emily asked me to run another marathon so that we could fundraise for The Little Princess Trust and give another child the gift of being able to wear a wig when they choose.
Friends, family, school, and work all got involved in supporting Ciaran. Many of his friends and family sponsored his marathon, Emily's cousins held an LPT bake sale and her school held a Halloween dress-up day, with all contributions going towards his marathon.
Ciaran and Emily have managed to raise a whopping £4,390.75 - a massive contribution that will make a huge difference to both our wig provision service and our funding into research for better and kinder childhood cancer treatments.
When thanking him for his amazing efforts, Ciaran said that he is grateful to be able to help "give other children the joy Emily had when she received her wig".
We would like to thank Emily, Ciaran, and all of their friends, family, and supporters for their amazing contributions; everyone at LPT truly are grateful for their support!
