In April 2017, The Little Princess Trust teamed up with Merlin events and Shrek’s Adventure, London! to find the longest hair donation in the UK.
TOWIE’S Mario Falcone crowned the winner from the five finalists of the #RealLifeRapunzel competition.
The finalist with the longest hair donation was Susan Manning from Southwold, Suffolk, who donated a whopping 30 inches!
Runners-up included Joy Tao from London, Roisin McGrath from Pontyclun, Wales, Sara El Gebali, from Cambridge and Fern Cartlidge from Cheshire.
The hair donors and their guests enjoyed a magical day at Shrek’s Adventure! London. Starting with a slap-up brekkie courtesy of the wonderful team from Starbucks UK, the finalists were treated to a VIP tour of the venue before having their hair cut and styled by staff and students from South Thames College Hair Salon. Each finalist was also given a superb goodie-bag supplied by Sally’s Salon Services.
Mario was on hand to help with the haircuts and to announce the overall winner of the #RealLifeRapunzel competition. Mario kindly donated his own hair to the Little Princess Trust in March.
Shrek’s Adventure! London also hosted a mass hair donation event during Saturday afternoon, with members of the public donating their hair to the Trust, whilst enjoying an array of fun activities.
Hair specifically from the #RealLifeRapunzel competition will be used to make much-needed, very long wigs.
Monica Glass, Charity Manager said ‘Saturday was an incredible day for the Trust. We were overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of everyone who came to donate their hair and also those people who came along to support friends and family on the day. The event would not have been possible without the involvement of the LPT staff and the teams from Shrek’s Adventure! London, Starbucks UK, the volunteers from South Thames College Hair Salon, Sally’s Salon Services and of course, our amazing supporters and donors!’
