Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, folks! We are now settled in to our lovely new office in Hereford and are looking forward to some fantastic events in 2017. The team are busy looking ahead but we also wanted to recap the end of 2016 in case you missed anything…

We thought Christmas day was on the 25th, right? But the wonderful team at Cotswold BMW Hereford gave us a late present this year – a brand, spanking new Grand Tourer, 2 Series!!!

Have you heard about our latest collaboration with Princess Fiona and Shrek’s Adventure in London? The wonderful team at Merlin events are supporting the Trust this year and Princess Fiona has recorded a special message for our long-hair donors. Watch it here:

We are thrilled to have been able to fund 11 research projects last year with CCLG. After rigorous review by our Research Advisory Group, we committed to funding eight research studies, with a combined value of just over half a million pounds. The selected projects include studies into brain tumours, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, neuroblastoma and acute lymphomblastic leukaemia.  Following the success of the first round of grants, we will shortly be launching further research funding opportunities in partnership with CCLG to discover less aggressive and less toxic cancer treatments for children.

We are continually amazed by the fantastic efforts of our donors and fundraisers but we were particularly astounded by the team at Firehouse Fitness in Sheffield who raised a staggering £12,000.00 in October when they held 24 workouts in 24 hours. Utter legends in our opinion!!

Towards the end of the year we received the most wonderful email from Gerry Beaty with news about his trek to Mount Toubkal in the High Atlas Mountains. It took Gerry and his eldest daughter, Lauren, 3 days to summit 4167 metres. It sounds like Gerry and Lauren had an amazing experience – tough at times, but  well worth it in Gerry’s words! He raised £1687.00 -smashing his original target of £650! Thank you, Gerry – we look forward to hearing your plans for your next adventure; you have certainly inspired some members of the team!
