I am so pleased that there is a charity where i could send my hair - having recently had 11 inches cut off i really wanted to do something that would help someone else. I looked up hair donation and came across this lovely charity, so i am pleased to say that it is on its way and i hope that you find some use for it. My 9 year old daughter was also so taken by this website that she has to grow her hair 2 more inches and then she will be having hers cut off. Keep up the good work that you all do.

I have recently lost 9 stone 11.5 pounds and one of the things I promised myself was that when I reached my goal weight, I would get my hair cut (hasn't been cut in over 8 years) and donate it to a charity like yours.
I also run a blog called Princess Parade geared towards little girls, so your charity seemed like the perfect match.
Once I get my hair cut, I will run a fundraiser from my blog to help raise enough funds for at least one wig to be made.
Let me know if there is anything else that I can do to help. Do you have any buttons that I can use in my Princess Parade blog's sidebar to link to you on a more regular basis?
If you need to approve the blog first, it's at http://princessparade.blogspot.com

Hello!
It has now been over a year since I donated 17 inches of my hair to this wonderful charity. My big chop inspired others to do so also and I hope everyone who donates their hair lets everyone know about this worthy cause. It's the best thing I ever did!

I stumbled upon Little princess trust via a sister of a friend! I did not know anything about this charity before being asked to help organise an event.. I have recently finished an event for Breast Cancer campaign raising £3500 in an auction disco event! It was amazing and loved every minute of it,i decided to raise money as i lost an old school friend to breast cancer she was only 26!
But this Charity has taken a piece of my heart now after just looking at the video, I was very naive to the fact that children can get cancer!! Having 3 children myself i now think this charity needs to be broadcasted to everyone to open the eyes of people..
I get so much joy out of helping charities buy doing fundraising events.. To see the families faces after having a new wig fitted just makes me cry and to know money raised will help someone is fantastic!!

I am a 35 year old male with 15"+ pony tail, which I plan on raising some money for the charity. When not only will I be having the pony tail cut off but also the rest of my hair. At one point I thought about cutting my hair off and selling it to one of the many companies paying for hair, to make into wigs/hair extensions. But I soon came across a lot of forums where it was suggested to donate the hair to a chair such as wigs for kids or the like. I thought yeah that is a good idea, why should I be selfish and make money out of my hair when there are so many children out there I could help and feel a whole lot better about myself for actually doing something about it.My only regret is that I haven't done this sooner, so I could have sent my hair in many times. I have seen Gail porter promoting the trust many times, and unfortunately like a lot of people I just thought at the time 'Aahh that's nice' and done nothing or thought any more about it. I made a quick google search and found the trust, now here I am :).

Thanks to your program, I was able to cut 12 inches off my hair yesterday!!! My hair has been professionally hi-lighted, & I didn't think anyone was interested in receiving it. I had been growing my hair for about a year and 1/2, before I read that hi-lighted hair wasn't wanted. Thankfully, a friend of mine told me of your site!! I'm so glad my hair didn't go to waste! It's banded & ready to be put in the mail, & I will be sending it out as soon as possible. Thanks again for accepting hi-lighted hair, and I just want to thank my good friend Nikki for telling me of this site!!! God Bless you for all the good your organization does!! Take care!!!

Looked up website today and found you.I have had alopecia since I was 14/15 years old.Now 50 years old, still wearing wigs, but very happy for youngsters coming along .So much more that can be done and it is all talked about.A great help from Gail Porter and her lively personality.Met up with my first people that too had lost hair just in 2007,alopecia,that is.Wish every single hairdresser had a poster up from your cause.Fantastic memory of your lovely daughter. It makes me wish that I knew how to make wigs and I could dedicate my time to doing that as a job.It makes such a difference!!lots of love to all fellow hair loss girlies, boysies, parents and families, hairdressers and medical people involved. A great website.Keep it up please, please, please.

my daughter tanhayer is having her hair cut in august for her birthday. she is 8 years old and is raising money for derian house childrens hospice. i heard about your site and she will be donating her hair to yourselves....she has grown it since birth and it is now below her bottom. she will be cutting it to her shoulderblades therefore her donation will be about 40cm. i am so proud of her and she has made all of these decisions herself with a little help from her family and friends. so far she has raised £250 and we have a long way to go to reach our £500 target.

Hi. I heard about donating hair when Hilary Swank cut hers on television for charity. I thought it was a brilliant idea so when my daughter Orla (9) said she wanted her waist length hair cut short, I went on to the Irish Cancer Society website to find out where to donate her hair. There is no Irish organisation that accepts hair donations but there was a link to your site. As an adult who suffers from alopecia I know first hand how distressing it is to loose your hair and I would imagine it to be 100 times worse for a child. Orla’s 15 inches of hair is on its way to you. Well done.

Hi, I am a primary school teacher. The children in my class were always talking about the length of my hair (it was past my waist) and when I said I was goning to go to the hairdressers they said they would love to see it. So, instead, I decided to get enough cut to donate and allow the children to be involved by donating money. Children and staff of all ages helped to raise the money. Well done guys x P.S. my hair s in the post!

I have been growing my hair specifically to donate it for about two and a half years, and it was already down past my shoulders when I found out I could donate. I had it cut to chin length last week and am posting you the fifteen inches tomorrow. I only regret not finding out about hair donation sooner as I have had enough cut twice already and it went to waste! My mum lost her hair through chemo when she had breast cancer and it really upset her. I hope my donation helps relieve some of that upset for someone else.

My 11 year old niece Charlene Bayne bravely got her long hair cut off to raise funds for the Elm Centre which is a club for people with Alzheimer's as her grandad suffers from it. Charlene decided she wanted to donate her hair to your charity and it is on it's way to you,we are all very proud of her and her short hair suits her. I think you are very brave setting up a charity like this after the loss of your beautifull daughter, well done. Well done to all the people donating their hair you are all brave.xx

Greetings people! Blessings to all who have created, supported and kept this trust alive. What with personal image being increasingly important with more young people now a days, and hair playing quite an important part, needless to say, what this trust provides is priceless. Now my hair can be put to good use, instead of cluttering up the barber's floor. And a bonus is that growing my hair annoys my mum, hehe, but i'm a good boy really ;)

I cant cope with it anymore as she hates me washing or brushing it. I think its a great reason to have 10" cut off. We did so today and its already to be posted to you tomorrow. After 2 and a half years growing, I finaly decided enough is enough. My hair has been one of the biggest factors of my life to date, being 17 and male(and totally vain), and so I believe its time to pass it on to some one less fortunate. Tonight I cut off all 21 inches of my hair and feel great. Keep up the amazing work your doing. (p.s. - if you are nervous about cutting off your hair, dont be because afterwards you will feel fantastic.) :)

I decided a while back to do a charity headshave to support (sorry it's not you but I didn't know about yourselves at the time)Macmillan Cancer Support and The Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Clatterbridge Hospital. I have done really well through personal sponsorship forms and have just set up a justgiving page for online donations, where I have mentioned about your Trust and tell people that I am donating my hair to you(since finding out about you and what a fantastic thing you do). Every time someone sponsors me I tell them what I am doing with my ponytail and what you do so as to raise awareness of ways people can help others by donating their hair (mine is slightly longer than the picture on justgiving but it was the only half decent one of me I could find). My hair will be on its way to you after the 21st June! Keep up the fantastic work you do and I for one will always let people know about The Little Princesses Trust

Thanks to Optima and the charity, my daughter now has a superb wig which we have named Wilma. Having a top quality wig has much improved my daughter’s quality of life and outlook on the future; she is positively glowing with confidence and happiness. I am very grateful to The Little Princess Trust, Optima and those who donate hair for their kindness and generosity. Thank you so much.Xxxx

I am 9 years old and i just read about your sight,as my mum was looking at it for my cousin who is 15 and has leukaemia. I was really sad when i found out people can donate their hair to you for making wigs because I had my head shaved off 3 weeks ago for charity and my hair was really long (about 1 & 1/2 foot) and my nieces hair was about the same length before she cut hers off as she was starting to lose it.We threw our hair away because Nobody had told my aunty about your service but she had been given a brochure to have a quick look at by a mcmillan nurse and remembered your name. Its such a shame that we didn't find out about you sooner, I have asked my mum if I can grow my hair and cut it off again and send it to you as I would really like to help with your cause. It would really help if the nurses told kids who are going to shave their hair before they lose it that they can donate it to you then I think you would get a lot more hair because I know if I was going to lose my hair then I would like someone to get to use it and it may even come back in a wig for me. I hope my mum does let me cut it off wen it has grown to 10" it is only about 1" now but is growing fast. Good luck..Erin..x

My husband and I both cut our very long hair and I'm sending them together. Unfortunately, I had dyed mine black before I thought about donating, so no natural blond, but my husband's is a beautiful chestnut brown. My hair has always been very thick, so if what I'm reading is correct (12 ounces per wig?) my braid which was 4 ounces will make about 1/3 of a wig. I'm really happy to be able to help so much. My husband's braid is another ounce. Total we're sending around 42 inches of hair. I checked our measures and both are well over the 10" requirement. I truly hope that someone can be helped with our lost locks. Love and blessings to those in need. -Darksbanes

A fantastic concept that has taken off well in the USA already so I hope it will be just as popular over here. I think you could publicise your campaign further by sending posters to hairdressers including directions on how to cut and package the hair. You could also try University Student's Unions who often have sponsored crazy events such as people shaving their heads throughout the year. Good luck with the campaign.

Hi my name is Jody, and I have had long hair all my life! At the age of 31, I thought I needed a change! Even though my mum always called my hair , my crown and glory! So I decided, that if I was going to have a drastic cut then I wanted the hair to be donated and wanted it to go to the Uk to help others! Then I found you, and I read the guestbook, and I cried, and cried and realised that I am really lucky to have hair! It really has changed my way of thinking and my outlook in life! So if I can help in anyway, please contact me! But to all those recovering children, who have sady lost their hair, I wish them strength and good health!

My 4 year old daughter watched a programme on tv about children with cancer and at the age of 4 decided that she would like to grow her hair and have it cut to make a wig for another child. Due to an unfortunate accident with chewing gum she has suffered a set back! she lost valuable inches and was devastated. I decided that if a 4 year old can do something like that then so could I! I found this website via google and was pleased to find that you are in birmingham! In a couple more weeks I hope to have enough to donate a decent sized ponytail on behalf of my daughter.

I am 8 years old and have Leukaemia. I have been having chemo for 5 months now and lost my hair. I have just collected my new wig which was organised by Little Princesses and I am so pleased with it. I can't stop flicking my head around and looking in the mirror. Thank you very much for making me feel more normal.

She says that although her hair can can be a bit of a pain when it gets in the way, she wouldn't want to be without it. We heard about "Wigs for Kids" from a friend but this is the only British site we've encountered.

Yesterday I chopped off all my long, thick hair (at least a foot long, maybe longer) to send off to your charity! I've never had my hair short (there's only about an inch left of it now!) so it was very exciting! The hairdresser was so kind, he didn't charge me for my haircut because he knew I was doing it for charity, which was really touching.
I hope my hair will make some little girl feel very happy and special!

Hi, my name is Sophie and I would like to thank all you people out there offering help with the hair pieces. I am one of those little princesses benefiting from this trust as I lost my hair last October after being dianosed with leukemia in the august. I cannot tell you how the new hair has helped me re build my life after such devastating news. I had always been a very well child and loved sport, did swimming for the school and played in a girls league football. All had to stop. My hair falling out though had to be my worst experience not only for me but for my mum dad brothers and sisters too. I at 11 years of age was their baby. Unless you have experienced something like this, no one can ever understand how it feels to see the hair bit by bit fall out and no one can ever describe to you how grateful we are to people like yourselves willing to donate, we can continue to enjoy life and feel pretty good too. Thankyou
Sophie

Hi, I recently started working as a secretary to a Consultant Oncologist. Last year, I found a lump in breast - fortunately just fatty tissue.
I decided to get my hair cut as it was far too long (waist length) and was starting to thin because of the weight of it. Somebody at work suggested that I donate it to a charity that makes wigs for children with cancer - I'd never even heard of it! So, I got it cut, right up to my jaw. I'm posting my hair to you tomorrow. I've also told Toni&Guy, where I had it cut, that anyone else who has over 10" cut off should do the same. I was lucky and found out about you through my colleague and Google - you need to spread the word!! You're doing a great job xxxxxx

Hi, for various reasons, I am having to get my extra long hair cut short, and I thought it would be great if I could donate it to a charity just like yours, and mum has always said that you could get two wigs out of it. I don't know about two anymore; as part of the reason I'm having it cut short is it's gone thinner due to aneamia and the scalp can't take the weight of long hair, but you should get one wig out of it I hope. The day has been set, and you should receive my plait in a couple of weeks.

Hi, im Susannah and i go to Peterborough high school in cambridgeshire. my best friend Emily Morgan had her hair cut for the wigs for kids charity, which does the same thing as you but does not fund the wigs. when emily heard that the family recieving the wig would have to pay £2000 she decided to be sponsered. Harriet Martin from our school also had her hair cut, but she donated it and her sponser money to you. emily heard about your work and was so imspires that she decided to send half of her sponsership money to you. she raised a grand total of over £800, so you should recieve half of that sometime soon, and her bob really suits her.
i had just had my hair cut short, so now i am growing it again so that i can send it to you.
i think what you do is really inspirational and im looking forward to being a part of it.
